Dr David Hopkins is a consultant physician and clinical academic with over 30 years of experience in diabetes. He is currently based in Jersey where he is leading the development of diabetes services for the island.
Until 2022 he was Director of the Institute of Diabetes, Endocrinology and Obesity at King’s Health Partners, leading one of the largest clinical and academic programmes in diabetes in Europe. He has held regional and national leadership positions in diabetes and currently chairs the Council of Healthcare Professionals at Diabetes UK.
Dr Hopkins has broad clinical and academic interests across the whole spectrum of diabetes with particular interests in diabetes technology and patient education. He maintains close academic links with King’s Health Partners and is diabetes lead for H2O, an EU programme to develop data observatories across Europe
